Briarlake Drainage Phase 3-New Discovery

This project became a bit more interesting with the discovery of a "cavern" underneath the porch. As seen in the top two photos, water had obviously been doing it's work in this spot-and the location corresponds well with the area of the basement where water has been entering. Fill dirt has now been added and compacted all along the foundation, including almost a 1/2 cu. yard of soil to fill in the 'cavern". Today I will be doing some minor grading and pine straw which will complete this phase of the drainage project here.

Briarlake Phase 2- Completed

Warming weather really helped to speed up the completion of this project last Thursday and especially Friday. Amazing how much better things go when all the soil isn't frozen!

Briarcliff Woods-Front Yard Improvements

Catching up on the blog this morning while being delayed by the rain again...Monday saw the delivery of some screened topsoil mix and I worked on getting it dispersed until it just got too wet (see below photo). Yesterday was much better as I got all the soil moved and plants relocated and raised. This project has two goals...the first is to add soil to some beds and bed areas in order to raise the plants which have been suffering from the original landscaper planting too low-combined with some heavy clay soil that really retains the water and doesn't drain well. The larger bed also had a huge White Oak removed recently and needed some replacement/addition of plants (Variegated Pittosporum are new-the azaleas were dug and stored while the tree work was going on-then replanted).

Tree Coming Down at Briarcliff Job...

Got a heads up around lunch today that Malcolm Bentley from Bentley Tree Service was getting started on the removal of a large White Oak at my upcoming job off Briarcliff Rd. Luckily this house is only 5-10 minutes from the Brookhaven Fields project, so I swung by to check on their progress after getting some lunch.
