Vinings Clean Up & Pruning

This was a one day clean up (although I had been out twice before to spray herbicide in preparation). Back yard had gotten a little out of hand-wish I had true "before" photos before I started the spraying. Pretty simple-used a weedeater to mow down all the dead weeds up on the top ledge and in the ivy beds..put down some pine straw and did some pruning-cut back the English Laurel pretty severely-they had gotten really out of scale in the landscape. Japanese Maple needed a lot of dead cut out and some hollies needed a haircut.

Big Canoe Completed

Had a good time working with my son up in Big Canoe...timber retaining wall turned out nicely as did the front planting of Creeping Plum Yew (chosen because it's a neat plant and virtually deer-proof..Big Canoe is a wildlife sanctuary and the deer can be landscape pests...we saw no deer during the days but did see a couple of turkeys this afternoon.)

Got started on demolition of a crosstie wall-intallation of a pressure treated timber wall and some clean-up and planting up at Big Canoe. Great place to work-5 degrees cooler and a great view!

Loaded up for Big Canoe

It's taken a couple of days to get back into the swing of things-had to take care of some watering for a client out of town, another herbicide application for a clean-up job in Vinings, and a minor irrigation repair since I got back to work on Monday. Now ready to head up to the beautiful north Georgia mountains to replace an old cross tie wall and do some planting.

Vacation coming up-Future Projects

Tying up some loose ends, doing a little prep herbicide spraying, and getting ready to take my son to the South Carolina coast-leaving Friday. As soon as I return I will be heading up to Big Canoe to replace an old crosstie wall and do a little landscaping in the front of the house (top 2 photos)...also on the agenda is a new front foundation planting for a Stone Mountain residence shown in the bottom 2 photos. Anticipating some quality R & R and good seafood on the coast-also looking forward to a busy end of July and good start on August when I return.
