Water Your Plants!

With temps in the mid 90s and little rain recently-we are starting to experience a little stress in some of our recently planted landscapes. Many of my clients have had plants installed in the last 6-8 months that are not yet fully established. These plants, regardless of drought tolerance, need to be watered DEEPLY at least once a week.

I have found that folks who get new turf installed will water religiously-this is very understandable since that is a a big investment and a major focal point in the landscape. It is more difficult to impress the need for watering of plants. Once some plants like azaleas or hollies go thru a severe wilt-they may not recover. Don't wait for the plants to tell you they need water.

Finally-this is the time of year when a lot of us are heading to the mountains or the beach for well earned vacations. Make arrangements to have someone water while you are away. My clients can contact me and I will do my best to help them with watering while they are away. Even one week with no water can cause serious damage to newly installed landscapes.
